Duke gives a nod to his fallen compatriot with the phrase, 'that's one doomed space marine.' These were simpler times in gaming when studios could give each other props without fear of copyright takedowns. One of my favorite easter eggs in a video game is definitely the space marine from Doom appearing in Duke Nukem 3D.
